Robert Rivas
I began painting later in life, after deciding to stay at home with our newborn son. Using some old paints from my wife’s college days, I began painting portraits of the authors whose works I grew to love as an English major. In addition to portraits of authors, musicians, and artists whose work I admire, I’ve ventured into still life work, focusing on the beauty of handmade artifacts. My work focuses on the importance of a sustained gaze—from the subjects’ to the viewers’.
My images displayed include: Portrait of Kurt Vonnegut, Oil on canvas; Portrait of Frida Kahlo, Oil on canvas; and Still Life, Egg Tempera on Wood Panel.
